Well, ole MacDonald was kind enough to pile straw at both ends of The Sty to keep out the Canadian blasts that rush in from the Grand Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan. I've hunkered in for the duration and stay close to the Fostex hard-drive for heat.
I strayed out last week for a trip up to Marquette where I had to hire a team of sled dogs to pull me up Old Kiln Road where co-conspirator Scotty "Busy" Alan was well.....just busy.
I got him to stop being busy long enough for us to get some work done on his forthcoming cd aptly named Old Kiln Road. By the way, you can check out Scott's introductory page for his new web site at:

Check back there often and you will get a glimpse into the curious world of this backwoods nut butt. (the nut butt is his own invention, not mine) This initial cd will be an interesting hybrid of Scotty Alan songs and Otis Bacon production.
I've been staying busy in the Sty with thoughts of a summer 2005 tour. To that end, I've been working on material for 2 cds to be offered at that time. One will be straight-up live Otis.....keyboard & vocal. The other will consist of various production cuts including original and cover tunes.
In 4 weeks, myself and spotted canine companion Cassie will be making our annual spring pilgrimage to Cass County for the beginning of syrup camp. Long time friend, Herb Boyer, kindly shares his awesome cabin with us and it's an opportunity for me to reconnect with the Mother County. Many comical memories and inspirations result from these trips. In fact, the photos in the Gallery of myself and others picking & grinning were taken by Herb on a windy October night last fall in front of the cabin.
Oh, while I'm thinking of it, I had the pleasure of hosting father & son team, Jordan & Joe Anderson in the Sty in January for a recording session. It was great fun to watch and listen as these two combined their genetically linked talents on a great version of Paul McCartney's, Let It Be. Also, many thanks to them for the gift of a double cd set of classic, boogie piano. It has provided much inspiration.
Welcome to the world goes out to Otho Gleason MacDonald who was born on January 23. Great work Alden......couldn't have done better myself.(if I just happened to be a female of child-bearing age)
Outta here!!!!!!!!!!!!! OTIS
