Ah, I remember it like it was yesterday. It was spring 1969 and it was exactly like this one. I mean, it had been winter and then it was spring. Wow. Can you believe it could happen again?
As we all ponder the deeper meaning of it all, I have to say that the sun rays beaming through 40 degree air feels mighty rejuvinating. It's enough to make me want to do the Mudtown Jig.(request that I play 4 Wet Pigs when you see me next) Good things are happening in the Sty.
A new Yamaha keyboard arrived by Brown this week. I don't suppose the delivery guy is used to an excited pig running inside his truck when he backs into a driveway. Good thing his uniform was already brown.(rimshot please) Anyway.........it's a beauty and the first new keyboard to bless this guy's existence in 14 years. All of a sudden many of those trills & runs aren't so hard to achieve. The last Yamaha keyboard I purchased was a DX7 21 years ago. It was my first electronic keyboard and has performed flawlessly through all my road dog days. I raise my cup of coffe in toast to the new S08 with the faith that it will serve me equally as well.
I will also be arriving in the world of amp modeling this coming week with the purchase of a Behringer V-Amp 2. I know, there's bigger & better, but this is a big step for this rootsy oinker and I look forward to experimenting with it. It should open some new avenues of inspiration while recording.
Work continues of full cd of Otis boogies & ballads. It will be a fairly true representation of live Bacon. Ballads will be simply key & vocal. I expanded the boogies with bass & brush snare/bass drum production. It's still live vocal & piano but I was encouraged by Team Bacon to keep the rythmn section.(every now & then they have something valid to offer) The cd will be availible this summer at performances and on the website.
Also in the works is the Scotty Alan cd. We've been burning up the USPS exchanging arrangements, experiments, excuses, & explanations. As Scotty says, "Genis takes time." I thought he really meant "Genius" but maybe he trying to start a whole new species. Regardless, this is cool stuff and if you haven't visited OLDKILNROAD.COM lately, you should. Very interesting.(stroking the the ole pigtee)
Webmaster Anderson & I have been toying with video ideas as of late. We think we're pretty funny.....both the laughing kind and the other kind. We'll keep this under porkpie hat for now, but don't be suprised to SEE something come of this in the not too distant future.
Hail the coming of spring 2005!! Life renewed. So fine to be a happy dude. As in 1969......Peace.....Love....Rock n' Roll!!!!!
