I unexpectedly found myself sitting in front of the gazebo at Elk Rapids harbor yesterday. It was unexpected because I THOUGHT I was going to be sitting somewhere in the UP. That, however is another story for another time.
The lemonade to my lemony situation was that I had he pleasure to witness the first public performance of On Lone, a new band whom I have somewhat close personal ties to.(also another story for another time)
If you're living in the Grand Traverse area, keep your ears & eyes to these folks. There was no mistaking the foreshadow of a very fine band in the early stages of their evolution. There were times where guitar, bass, & drums fell into a perfectly synchromized, sweet mix that allowed the singer's vocals to shine through giving all in attendance a sneek peek at the future of the band.
Our good friend, Bob Conklin, provided a fine, mellow, opening set on acoustic guitar & vocal only to reveal his talent range by delivering an inspired and extremely entertaining version of Wheezer's Sweater Song with the band to cap off the show.
This is Otis Bacon hopefully making his last entry from Elk Rapids, Michigan. May I quote The Grateful Dead?.....sure......"What a long strange trip it's been."
