There's not much more on this planet that I love more than a good, fully immersed, creative, enthusiastic, fun recording session. Pancake Boy and Otis webmaster, Jordan Anderson braved the trek across the Straits of Mackinaw and the wilds of the U.P. to participate in such a session the weekend of August 17, 2007.
It inadvertantly became known as the Sleeping Pig Sessions in that he decided to do some back road sight seeing between here and the Bridge and so was running a few hours behind proposed schedule. Not a problem, but the Pig don't normally stay too late after the birds stop chirping.
After he shook off the road dust a bit, we sat up late and discussed production approach to his ambition to "Flesh Out" as much of the 5 songs he had prepared as possible. We were up and at it some time in the 9 o'clock hour Saturday morning, (yes I'm sure of that), and by golly, by the time he departed early Sunday afternoon we'd laid down the bones of 4 of them. Got to say, not only are these well crafted pop tunes, but most of our performances were pretty close to solid. He left with WAV files and rough mixes in hand for continuing work on the project.
A word of thanks to Blake Becker of Blacktop Studio for the loan of his nice Fender bass for the session.
