Hello nobody........not that if you're reading this that you are a "nobody" because I suspect that unless you lost it in a tragic accident or you're an ethereal being, that you have a perfectly fine body. Due to my long absence, however, I suspect again that nobody will be reading this. So this is another perfectly fine example of selfishness on my behalf in an attempt to be whole.(hole?) Speaking of Hole.....what became of Courtney?
Things are happening, albeit at a slow pace, up in The Sty. Due to generous & loving Christmas contributions I have some new equipment to play with. 3 new mikes, some new cords, (thanks Griff), a rack mount compressor, 2 new sets of headphones, and some other small accessories. The results have been immediate & inspiring. What a joy it is to be able to hear my messed up voice so well. The new headsets are great too. The old one I was using had been broken since summer. The frame was broken so I gray taped it back together. This worked fine except you no longer had enough tension on the ear pieces for them to fit snuggly. So I employed the use of a large rubber band to hold them tightly to the head. This worked fine except it cut off circulation to the brain leading to some interesting hallucinations. I even got Jordan Anderson to use the rubber band method......too funny.
You all remember The Muldoons? Ofcourse you don't unless you do. They WERE the lovable duo of Yoopers who co-created delightful stories of decadence in song. Well, unfortunately for us all, they have dearly departed each other's company. In other words, the band broke up. Bummer for me in that we had discussed joining forces to create an even stranger Muldoons. The good news, however, is that the "sit down" guy, Scotty Alan, and I have begun to work on an EP of S.A.'s material to be produced right here in The Sty. I was able to spend a day and a night at Scotty's awesome, backwoods home over the Thanksgiving holiday. We did some jamming, some jawing, and made feast upon some well prepared road kill.(no jive) Anyway, we continue to work on this project and I will keep you posted on its progress.(even though nobody will be reading it)
I've been working primarily on my tech and technique issues by producing some off-the -wall cover tunes such as the Genesis song, "That's All" and the Spinners' "I'll Be There." Also made a stab at "Hold The Line" by Todo. They're very Otis and I've convinced myself that I'm making progress in these areas. Oh, also Scotty loaned me an accordian! O.K......we're talking major bicept workout here folks. I will never challenge an accordian player to an arm wrestling contest. Anyway, I'm spending some time with that and my mando.
Dat's about all. I have high hopes that as spring approaches I'll be ready to get back out into performing. Peace................Otis
